The Random Selection Process has never been so easy to administer!
The CSS system design allows for your random selection process to be easily administered and thoroughly documented.
The system design is able to accommodate companies with multiple random pools. Our customer service can perform the
random spin or your company can be easily trained to administer the process independently.
The process starts with the customer uploading an updated employee file in a comma delimited, (CSV) format into our system.
The file should contain employee classification and location to assist your company with your record keeping and proper administration.
Once the file is uploaded you can decide when and how you want to make the random selections. The system will accommodate monthly or
quarterly selections and allows a customer to be flexible on what percentage of the workforce they desire to select.
Once the random employees are selected the system displays the names in an easy to view windows based real-time list that can be
broken down by location and viewed by your managers that have been provided access to the system. This system capability allows
easier administration of the random selection process as it precludes the need to send out the random selections by some
unprotected method.
The significance of the report being displayed in real-time allows for management to be able view the completion progress of each
location that was assigned random selected employees. As the test requests are entered in the system and the results are
downloaded and completed by the MRO the report will document the activity.
The system will also produce reports on the random process that will show the customers’ month to date or year to date
calculations. The system will also accommodate a personal random record for each employee so that their own random record
is documented including information on how often they were selected and if they refused to be involved and were terminated.

Hair Drug Testing
What is Hair Drug Testing?
Since hair growth is fed by the bloodstream, the ingestion of drugs of abuse is revealed by analyzing a small sample of hair.
Our testing method measures the drug molecules embedded inside the hairshaft, eliminating external contamination as a source of
a positive test result. Hair testing results cannot be altered with shampoos or other external chemicals.
What time period does a standard test cover?
A standard screen covers a period of approximately 90 days. The hair sample is cut as close to the scalp as possible and the most
recent 1.5 inches are tested.
How much hair is needed?
A standard screen with GC/MS confirmation requires 60+ milligrams of hair or approximately 90 to 120 strands. The thickness of
different types of head hair (thick coarse vs. thinning fine) is the reason for this variation.
How does Hair Testing compare to urinalysis?
The primary differences are
1) wider window of detection
2) inability to tamper with the test
Advantages: Hair drug testing can provide a much longer window of detection, which is useful for highly safety critical
positions where there is zero tolerance of drug usage. Even if the person being tested has a shaved head (perhaps in preparation
for the test), hair can also be taken from almost any other area of the body. This includes the underarms, arms, legs,
and pubic area.
Disadvantages: Costs more than urine testing, must have a lab for results.
Compliance Safety Systems can arrange Hair tests for your firm as we employ 3 laboratories that perform these tests and have a
database that contains a nationwide network of collection sites that are trained in collecting hair samples.
Consortium
Compliance Safety Systems Consortium was established to satisfy the DOT Regulations as stated in Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Regulations Section 49 Part 382.305 that states: All employers with drivers possessing a Commercial Drivers License (CDL),
regardless of size, randomly test their CDL licensed drivers using a scientifically valid method. The Department of Transportation
regulations allow for Consortiums to administrate the random testing of regulated employees in order to comply with the DOT
standards. A Consortium pools your regulated employees with regulated employees from other companies in order to have a large
enough base to select individuals equitably throughout the year.
The CSS Consortium Service includes:
- Random Selection including all draws, notifications and follow up
- Certified Drug Testing Laboratories
- Medical Review Officer
- Semi-Annual Drug Testing Summary Reports
- Annual Consortium Summary Reports
- Written Company Policy development, meeting all Federal and State regulations
